A few weeks ago, I set out on a trip to visit a few of our current accounts around central California. In addition, I went to attend this years Damn AM Contest held at the Woodward West Camp in Tehachapi, California. For the first half of my trip I set out to Ventura and Bakersfield to visit three stores, The Biz, Shop Ceria and Zumiez. All of which are strong supporters of IMKING and have a common love for street wear and its lifestyle.
The Biz was my first stop. Established in 2009, they were Ventura’s first street wear shop. It is conveniently located on Main St. next to Ventura High School. Don’t let the size of the shop fool you, they carry todays current premier street wear brands and the customer service is truly above par. If you are ever in the area, be sure to stop by and check it out.

Shop Ceria, located in downtown Ventura, has a pretty interesting theme. Ceria deriving from the word Carniceria, is a store serving goods you can’t find in typical grocery stores, making the roots of the culture more accessible. From IMKING, to the newest SB’s, the shop offers a wide variety of brands that satisfy your every need. The store is also heavily influenced by art, something you will notice as you first walk in. Shop Ceria is an experience in its own, taking everyday shopping to a higher level. Check them out!

Upon arriving in Bakersfield, I decided to make it my resting point before going to the Damn Am Contest the next morning. However, while I was in town I decided to stop by one of our Zumiez locations at the Valley Plaza. If you didn’t know, Zumiez first started with one shop in Seattle, Washington back in 1978 at the Northgate Mall. They have hundreds of stores across the United States! Heavily influenced by action sports, they offer clothing any skateboader, snowboarder, surfer and motocross rider would ever need. Once arriving, I was greeted by store managers, John aka “OX” and Alex. They were both super amped to have me visit and eager to show me around the store. Talking with them gave me a better understanding as to what customers want in the area, something that is vital in the retail industry. After a good half hour of chit chatting, I said my thank you’s and left a bunch of goodies.
To end the day with over 4 hours of driving, I think I deserve a good nights rest.
