This Sunday I had the opportunity to attend the one-day pop-up event in LA at the Known Gallery to celebrate the book release of Hello Kitty, Hello Art. The book features over 200 pieces of art inspired by Sanrio’s Hello Kitty icon along with several other Sanrio characters.
I arrived at the gallery around 12:30 pm and of course there was already a long line outside the door, down the entire street, going around the corner and almost hitting the next block! The turn out for the event definitely exceeded my expectations and I’m glad i was able to make it out.
The gallery featured amazing paintings, graffiti art by POSE, cute chandelier displays by Adam Wallacavage, neon-incorporated art by RISK, and new works by Shepard Fairey. Unfortunately the books had already sold out earlier that afternoon, but I was able to scope out the new book they had on display.
Although I’m not the biggest Hello Kitty fan, I enjoyed the art just as much as any Hello Kitty fanatic, so of course I asked Hello Kitty herself for a picture.
And to those who were not able to attend this one-day event, don’t fret! I was lucky to find out that the book is available on www.sanrio.com!
