I call him our next generation Dilla. Dibia$e is a producer out of Watts, CA. He is a 12 time beat battle champion and a runner up at the RED BULL BIG TUNE BATTLE. Dibia$e came into our office and produced some tracks for a SECRET project we’re working on. Make sure you read the interview and check out the video below! Have a good weekend!
Streetwear Bear: First and foremost introduce yourself to everyone.
Dibia$e: It’s your boy the slap master general Dibia$e out of Watts, California.
Streetwear Bear: Whats the meaning behind your name?
Dibia$e: Being that I’m from the old school even though I look young, when the beard is
trimmed. I grew up a heavy fan of the W.W.F(World Wrestling Federation),and Million Dollar
Man Ted Dibia$e was one of the characters. His signature move is the million dollar sleeper
then he wakes up his opponent by slappin them in the face and shoving hundred dollar bills
down their throat. So my beat making style is a reflection of how I be stylin’
on cats with the sequencing, to the slaps and hypnotic basslines.
Streetwear Bear: What do you do?
Dibia$e: I’m just on this music grind full time. No day job, but used
to coach basketball and win titles.
Streetwear Bear: Were you always producing or did you start as something else?
Dibia$e: Originally, I started ryhming but needed beats that
complemented my style. I thought myself how to make beats with an
8 second sampler and corny drum machine around 95′.I then got an Mpc2000 in
late 97′.
Streetwear Bear: Any big projects coming from you in 09?
Dibia$e:I wouldn’t say big but it’s going to be an hectic year. I’m gonna release an EP
in June on a small label “Mellow Orange”, an album on Alpha Pub, Another EP on
jazzy sport, a 10″ vinyl with the homie Pudge on All City, all the Green Llama
projects.I will continue killin’ the mixtape world with U-N-I and an EP with them as
well. I’m basically trying to flood the market and make my music accessible
to those who are interested.
Streetwear Bear: Now im about to put you on blast and ask you, who is the best artist
you have worked with to date?
Dibia$e: Man thats a tough one. I have fun working with U-N-I, because I sit in the studio
with them during the whole process and the video shoots. My Green Llama
family is some of favorites. They got Selfish, Tone Liv, Decay and Butta Verses.
They on some raw sh*t so it’s out of them two.

Streetwear Bear: Is there anyone you haven’t worked with that you want to, or is there
anyone your excited about working with in the future?
Dibia$e: I would like to work with Mf Doom ,but in reality I gotta get my paper up for
that to happen. Guilty Simpson’s down to work so I’m sure we could make a classic.
Streetwear Bear: Weapon of choice(Instrumental Machines)?
Dibea$e:I got weapons I don’t limit myself to one. Mpc 2000xl, Reason4, Sp404,
and the Micro Korg.
Streetwear Bear: Who is your biggest influence?
Dibia$e: Well I have many which you hear in my music. Some Dilla , Pete Rock,
vintage Rza, Diamond d, Erick Sermon, Mad lib, MF Doom and then I add my twist
to it all and there u have it.
Streetwear Bear: favorite artist at the moment?
Dibia$e: I listen to alot of the homies beat tapes. At the moment, it’s been
old Dilla beat tape ,14 kt, Devon , Benny Blanco and the
homies Jonwayne and 2suant.
Streetwear Bear: What is your Favorite piece from im king?
Dibia$e: The wind breaker jackets ,and the leather jacket with the hoodie u can
take off is fly.
Streetwear Bear: Well thanks for coming to our office and producing some crazy sh*t for us.
We’re looking forward to hearing your music this year.
